So despite the fact that I really love the material Im presenting on, Im having a really goddamn hard time writing this stupid presentation. Im giving a presentation on Marvel's Civil War and the death of Captain America in 40 minutes, and I havent written my thesis or stated my purpose. I feel like Im just rapidly typing trivial facts that I know about the Marvel Universe in random order and hoping for the best. I really thought that because I love the material, writing this would be easy. But its not. Instead Im writing an entry in the livejournal I share with my best friend, roommate, and hetero-life-partner, whose daily antics often make my life worth living. I went into my local comic store to buy the required materials, Civil War Trade Paperback including Civil War #1-7 + alternate cover sketches, and the fat guy behind me commented a Spiderman comic I impulsively picked up to buy.
"So you a fan of Spiderman?"
"Yeah I enjoy him from time to time."
"What else you got there?"
(At this point the other fat guy in front me turns around to scope out the stack of books I had in my arms. They were there together.)

"Avengers and some X-men."

Guy in front: I'm assuming those are all for you
Me: Yeah. They are.
Guy in front: Its nice to see a woman reading comic books.
Me(wincing and squirming and trying to force-choke him): Yep.
Guy in back (profusely sweating): Do you play D&D?
Me: Nope
GIF: You should give it a shot! Its fun
Me: I wasn't raised on it. I play some videogames though.
GIB (looking incredulous and as if he saw Jesus walk on water): WOW really? What do you play blah blah blah blah
Me: Zelda blah blah blah
Anyway, you get the point. I was uncomfortable the entire time. I dont like talking about gender when I talk about reading comics, and I dont bring it up. Its not a big deal that I read comics. I just felt like venting a little, guys. Thx for listening!
Also, I am apprehensive about Watchmen, and the more I think about a Captain America movie or an Avengers movie, the more and more I disagree with it, and the tired I get of comicbook movies. In other news, I now have 32 minutes until my presentation and still no thesis!!!!
